Carers Survey January 2026

We carried out a Carer Survey to better understand the experiences of unpaid carers registered with the practice and to identify how we can improve the support we offer.

Survey overview

  • 320 surveys sent

  • 77 responses received (24% response rate)

What carers told us

  • Around half of carers do not feel well supported by the practice.

  • Many carers are unaware of the support and information available to them.

  • Some carers feel comfortable raising concerns, but fewer have had opportunities to discuss their own health and wellbeing.

  • Feedback on appointment flexibility was mixed.

Carers shared valuable feedback through written comments, highlighting:

  • Concerns about future care and transitions, especially when children move into adult services.

  • The emotional and mental health impact of caring, including stress, anxiety, and low mood.

  • A lack of awareness about external support, such as community services, grants, and home adaptations.

  • A desire for better communication, clearer information, and a named contact within the practice.

  • Interest in carer support groups to reduce isolation and share experiences.

What we will do next

Based on this feedback, we are committed to putting the attached action plan into practice to improve support for carers.

Thank you to everyone who took the time to complete the survey. Your feedback is helping us make meaningful improvements.
